Figure: Clear evidence of usability problems found during the Océ field study.
For this project, the client OCÉ wanted to get insight into the usability problems of one of their products. In focus were combined copier and networked printer machines, as used in a large educational environment, Fontys Hogeschoolen, Eindhoven. From briefing to executive report one week of time was given.
After a first visit of the location, my team and I worked out a plan for the field study. For the next three days we conducted several field observations, partly followed by informal interview sessions. In a next step, the gathered data of 20 users was analysed, the found usability problems were ranked by severity and an executive summary was worked out.
As a result, Océ's product manager in charge showed understanding of the product's usability problems and agreed to take action after the executive presentation.
This project accompanied the module „Human Factors“ of the User-System Interaction post-graduate program at the TU Eindhoven.
