Usability insight into a product in use
Goal of this one-week project was a conceptual design for a system mediating user presence, but also personal mood and accumulated atmosphere in an office environment.
Actions and results
In a first step, we conducted interview sessions with users in their working environment. We recorded the interviews on video, with focus on capturing the workplace situation and artefacts of the environment. After the analysis of the video material, my team and I started to work on an interaction design concept. We worked out storyboard and script for shooting the video footage. Subsequently, we worked on the production and continued with the post-production of the video material. The video prototype was presented to and evaluated of an audience of HCI experts.
In this expert evaluation several concerns regarding the use of the system arose, ranging from usability problems to unsolved social issues. As a result, the evaluation led to recommendations for the re-design of the system concept.
This project accompanied the module „Video Prototyping “ of the User-System Interaction post-graduate program at the TU Eindhoven.
