Fabian Körner - Interaction Designer
I'm an Interaction Designer with more than two years of experience,
most recently at Interone Worldwide (BBDO Worldwide) in Hamburg,
Germany. As a graduate of the post-graduate design program 'User-System
Interaction' at Eindhoven Technical University I have been trained
on user-centred design methods. My background in 'Media Technology'
is a valuable asset and makes a perfect match for rapid prototyping.
I have been deeply involved in the design of User-System Interaction
for more than two years. To date, I work as Interaction
Designer at
Interone
Worldwide (BBDO Worldwide), designing digital user experiences. Currently,
my work focuses on eCommerce and eCRM applications.
Furthermore, I have gained design experience in the field of multimodal interaction and speech interfaces at Philips Consumer Electronics in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
One of my recent professional interests is Design Process Management.
I studied
Media
Technology from 1998-2004 at the Technical University of Ilmenau,
Germany. Media Technology combines Electrical Engineering, Computer
Science, Business Administration, Media Science and Visual Design,
tailored to Media Production and Engineering.
The study program consisted of two phases. The first phase (2 years) focused on broad orientation and foundations. I completed this phase with the “Vordiplom”, which comprises examinations in the field of Mathematics, Physics, Electronics, Circuits Engineering, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, Communication Networks, Computer Architecture, Electrical Acoustics, Video Technology, and Empirical Media Research.
In the second phase of the study program (3 years) I specialized in
Media
Production. Therefore I carried out a media project in the fourth year
and performed an industrial training of 6 months. Before I successfully
graduated with the degree of Dipl.-Ing., I had to produce and defend
a Diploma thesis (6 months).
Driven by my study and work experience, my professional interest shifted
towards usability and user-centred
design. As a consequence I took the chance
to deepen my knowledge and proficiency as an Interaction
Designer in the
post-graduate
User
System Interaction design program at the TU Eindhoven, which I graduated
from in October 2006.
The scope of the program is training on scientific methods and techniques for the design and evaluation of user interfaces of products, services, and systems.
The User-System Interaction Design program supports graduates with a Master's Degree in engineering or behavioral sciences to develop themselves into professional designers. The two-year program is divided into two parts: the study period (14 months), and final industry project (9 months). Having finished the program successfully, I gained the degree of a Professional Doctorate in Engineering (PDEng).
